On the morning of Wednesday, September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico, devastating the island and plunging all of its 3.4 million residents into a desperate humanitarian crisis. Hurricane Maria is the worst storm to hit Puerto Rico in over 80 years, and arrived only two weeks after Hurricane Irma passed just north of the island and left the entire Island without power. The effect on Puerto Rican families — and the island’s infrastructure will take many years to heal. TC has partnered with Group Missions Trip to go on our very first church missions trip. Group Missions have had strong relationships in Puerto Rico for over 10 years. We will be working at a specially chosen location, the week we are in PR, not only are we going to help transform a location but, we too will be leaving transformed, changed. Let’s be the one as in “Isaiah 6:8 ESV“- And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

Types of Projects

Although supplies and assistance have been arriving since the hurricane, help will be needed for years to come to rebuild the island. Group International Mission Trips has had strong relationships with mayors and local churches in several Puerto Rico municipalities for the past 10 years, and never has the time been so right for those relationships to shine.  We’ll be working closely with our partners to provide much-needed assistance to hurricane victims, whether by distributing food and supplies, identifying which homes need critical repair, or providing teams to paint, repair roofs, clean up debris, or do whatever else is needed.  We encourage you to link arms with us in helping our friends and fellow U.S. citizens rebuild their homes and their lives.

For the past 10 years, we’ve partnered with the city municipalities of Cayey and Ponce, sending hundreds to help elderly and disabled people with home repairs. Our partnership will continue with these cities to bring much-needed supplies and recovery in 2018 and beyond. No special skills are needed – just a willing heart to serve!  On our recovery trips, you might be involved with these types of projects (subject to change):

» Help rebuild homes and other structures

» Clear debris

» Assist in other ways as needed[trx_line style=”solid”]
